When I unplug the HDDs, the performance comes backĪfter a lot of failed attempts (Flashing the BIOS to different versions accordingly changing the drivers, using older drivers), unfortunately nothing worked. Unfortunately, while Windows 10 recognized the controller, found the driver for it and reported that the device works correctly, when I plug my external HDDs, Windows 10 starts to choke and become unusable. I bought the Silicon Image Sil 3132 controller and was happy to see that it was immediately seen by the motherboard and BIOS. I recently upgrade my PC with new 6th gen Intel i7 with a newer motherboard (Gigabyte Z170-HD3P), which unfortunately, like most newer motherboards, has only 6 SATA internal connectors and none e-Sata connectors, so I had to buy an external add-on SATAĬontroller in order to plug in my external HDDs.
